Making choices is complicated, requiring judgment and influencing one's life and the lives of others. Happiness and success are goals many people pursue; then they must choose how to attain them. As a college freshman, I have thought about my own choice to help me acquire a life fulfilled with happiness and success: my choice is to obtain a good education.

Choices offering people happiness and success differ depending on individual concepts of what is necessary to be happy and successful. For me, happiness is a feeling of comfort, not perfect but enduring, and success is what I will have once I feel happiness in my heart. So, why do I choose education? Here are my reasons.

A good education will heighten my sense of my humanity. Knowledge is not all about business, engineering, medicine and pharmacy; it also includes behavior and conduct that I should learn to live a life not only for me, but also for others. That knowledge will help me set a foundation on which to build my happiness, the happiness of loving and being loved. Is that what I want? Yes, that is because the love that my family, my friends, and other people give me will stay with me, letting me live in the comfort of sharing with everybody around me.

I also can see a bright future opening in front of my eyes if I am well educated. The world's non-stop development demands more and more of academic knowledge and skills. As a student, like others, I hope to make use of my knowledge to build my own life and career. Solid knowledge and skills can lead me to good job opportunities. As a hard worker with broad knowledge, I will become more confident in my career. And of course, a good job can help guarantee my financial security. Again, is this the kind of happiness I want? To me, even though materialism is not everything and does not guarantee permanent happiness, a sufficient lifestyle, not necessarily luxurious, is one of the requirements that will allow me to improve my life.

With a good education and
